And now,…
The first thing you need to know before hiring a social media manager for your business is:
What exactly you need help with, what are you struggling with?
Where is your business at right now – New, making some money and need to scale?
Do you need someone to take over your entire digital presence? Meaning someone/s to manage all your social media channels?
Maybe you only want Facebook ads done for you?
Is email marketing your bug bear?
Or you need someone to create your landing page/s?
You might actually need a Virtual Assistant.
Do you want blog content created for you and/or promoted?
For many, you just need someone to manage your Instagram or Pinterest profile and create content for you, right?
By clearly defining what you need help with and what level of help you need? You’ll be able to find the right social media manager for you now.
Understand that, not all social media managers are made equal.
Understand that, not all social media managers are made equal. Meaning?
Some concentrate on different areas of marketing than others. For example, I offer social media management in my business, but I concentrate a lot on Pinterest marketing and Social media Strategy…So…
So if you’re, a client who’s looking to use Pinterest in your business, I would probably be a great fit for you.
But there are also some platforms that I do not manage like Instagram. I am not an expert at those platforms, and so it’s, not something that I offer to my clients, so decide on your goals and what you need help with.
Should you hire a Social Media Manager?
First, before you start the process of hiring, you’re new to your business and you’re not sure what you need help with or where you should put your marketing dollars.
I can actually help you out with this. Let’s have a Business Strategy Consultation.
Or if you need a TEAM Strategy Session and Implementation session visit our K-Web Social Designs page and scroll to “Ala Carte.”
During this business consultation, I’ll do a complete audit of your digital footprint and come up with a strategy for you so you’ll know what you need to change in your business and what the next steps should be when it comes to your marketing strategy.
And we’ll have a minimum of 30 Mins session to walk you through the implementation of that strategy.
This is a great place for you to start. Once you know what you need help with and what level of help you need, you can decide on a budget as well.
If you ever had a chat with a social media manager, they most likely asked you what your budget is. And every single social media manager is going to have a different price range. That depends on their experience and scope of work.
So what does a social media manager do, or what can they do for your business?
Well, as I said before there’s, a very big variety in what different social media managers do, but let’s cover the basics.
#1. They can create and/or optimize your social media platforms.
This means that if you’re just starting out, or getting serious, they can create profiles for you on platforms like Pinterest, LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, youtube, etc.
If you already have these platforms set up, they will come in and do an audit on them at the start. Ensuring that they’re fully optimized for your desired end goal.
So this means:
- They make sure your files are set up properly.
- Your username is congruent across platforms.
- You’re using the proper hashtags
- That your feed looks cohesive say on Instagram and much much more.
#2. Create Content
This is a huge one – It is the game-changer. A lot of our clients come to me for this.
See not all Social media management agencies do this. The Done For You Content option.
This is definitely something that I offer and lots of times it includes videos.
By creating content for you, it frees you to focus on your zone of genius. We help you create strategic content that your ideal target client is actually looking for.
By creating content for you, it frees you so you can focus on your zone of genius.
#3. A Social Media Consultant Can provide strategy.
This is something that, if you are not experienced in the world of marketing can seem very difficult for a business owner.
What with so many different options online and so many different marketing strategies!
It’s hard to know what the right one would be for your business. So, by hiring a social media manager, they are able to come into your business, assess it and help you decide what the best strategies would be for you.
Would it be best for you to be on Facebook, or would it be best for you to be on Linkedin or Pinterest?
Again by having a social media manager come in, they’re able to give you guidance in this way. This isn’t something a Virtual Assistant is usually able to do effectively.
#4. They help you create a content calendar.
This is something that we do for every single one of our clients so that they know what we are posting on a monthly basis. This also helps them to be able to give approval over the content that goes out to their audience.
In our case at K-Web Social, we create content a month in advance and provide the calendar for approval approx. 2 weeks before posting.
#5. They Consistently Post on Your Behalf.
If you chose that option obviously. See, you’re, a busy business owner, right? And it’s hard to know what to post, and when to post consistently, daily on multiple social media platforms.
And THIS this is where the bulk of a social media manager’s hands-on work comes into its own.
They’re, going to make sure that all of your posts are set up properly and that your content is posted consistently across all of your different social media channels.
This also means they will keep track of the content performance and your brand growth on those platforms.
#6 Brand & Community Management
When I say brand management, this not just one thing.
It means managing your brand:
- The comments that come in,
- Managing your audience.
- Any direct messages that you get on platforms like LinkedIn or Facebook or Pinterest.
- Responding to any negative feedback or comments or getting back to any potential clients about setting up a call.
- Or reporting on any technical problems may arise with your account.
And, finally, one more thing that most social media managers will do, for you is…
#7. Provide you Reports and Insights
We are talking analytics, they are a very important thing to keep an eye on, on a monthly basis.
You’ll learn a lot about your audience and content.
So you’ll learn who your audience is. Are they mostly male or mostly female?
Do they come in a certain age range that is attracted to your content?
If you use them, what hashtags perform the best or which posts performed the best?
Which ones got the most reached, which one got the most engagement, which one Gave you the most ROI = return on investment?
If you have offers out there on your social media channels, it’s, important to look at the analytics to see if that piece of content is driving traffic to your offer.
So the above are the most common Tasks that most social media managers will provide for you.
But, as I said before, it totally depends on each social media manager.
What Else Does a Social media Manager Offer?
Well, some social media managers provide other services like Social Ads – Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, LinkedIn.
They can also offer email marketing, Google ads, and Pinterest marketing services like we do.
How Do Social Media Managers help you?
Well, the biggest thing that we do for you and your business is we give you back time and time is precious right? We all know this. We help you Save money since time is also = money. A Social media Manager will help you increase your follower base thus influence and get an opportnity to do more busienss with more people. This in turn gets you to yor desired results.
There are 24 hours in a day, and they seem to go by so fast. So we help you Free Your time to concentrate on other areas of your business that you’re better at.
We take over your social media marketing. So you don’t have to worry about it.
We also help you create a proper strategy that’s, going to help you reach your goals.
The last point above, I want you to think about your goals. Do you want to attract more leads?
You do you want to grow your audience?
Do you want to grow your authority, your brand awareness?
What goals do you have for your social media?
What does social media success Look like for you?
By knowing your goals ahead of time, your social media manager will be able to craft a better strategy for you to help you reach those goals.
This will also help you stay on the same page as your social media manager when it comes to your strategy and creating content.
