Are you dealing with unsupportive spouse or partner in your New business? Especially if its Network marketing or similar business model.
Most of us would like to believe that we are supportive in our relationships. The reality is starting a brand-new business and working a relationships can be a tough recipe. In fact, many successful people say:
do not dance where you eat.
In other words, marriage and entrepreneurship are considered hard.
Even if you are dating, living together with an entrepreneur you may find the rocky path too. And in today’s Episode of KalungiGroupTV, I share: How you can deal with an unsupportive partner. PLUS, how to get support from your spouse!
Ground Zero – Dealing with an Unsupportive Partner
First of all in a relationship, it is all about Balance, Listening, COMMUNICATION. Without those 3 it becomes a Tag of War all the time, which can lead to quitting.
First of all in a relationship, it is all about Balance, Listening, COMMUNICATION.
Note that: I did not say Compromise… That word is overrated in relationships. Compromising means that one is “sacrificing” a part of who they are, to let the other shine. It almost always feels resentful.
Instead, take a Decision to work your face off, to create results. Then go ahead and Do it.
Many people promise their spouses Paradise and deliver the Ghetto.
They are 80% of the time not present. Even at mealtimes, they are on their phones, WhatsApp chats, etc. Or they come home late, in a state of exhaustion, grumpy so their spouse/partner feels neglected.
Your spouse won’t support your business journey if the above is you.
Many people promise their spouses Paradise and deliver the Ghetto.
So, How Do you perform with an Unsupportive Partner? ??
#1. Share your Vision with them. The goals you wish to achieve for both of you or family. Time frame it might take, Milestones and Targets you intend to hit and end Results you wish to achieve.
And more importantly; WHAT you will do to celebrate the Milestones/Targets and achievements along the way. Give them something to look forward to.
For instance, you can say to your partner:
Honey, I am going to be a bit absent in the next 2 years as I build this business. I hope you will be patient with me…This is what I hope to achieve… A,B,C etc…
COMMUNICATE.
UNDERSTAND THAT:
#2 You DO NOT Need their Permission to build your business. The idea is it’s supposed to create revenue for y’all. And you met as full-grown adults taking decisions.
I learned this way back in 2014 from my then coach:
Have the Hard conversation with them.
Find a private moment with them or even take them out for a meal. After the meal, simply say this with love and confidence:
Honey: I don’t need your approval or permission to build this business. It would be awesome if you support, agree with or accept what I am doing. But its not Mandatory. All I ask is DO NOT talk ill about my business to me or anybody else. Do not or poop on my parade. If you respect our relationship, stop picking on me and instead let me get on with building this thing to success.
#3. If you want their support, get results.
Hit your income goals and buy them a car or buy a family car. Take them on a vacation, Pay off your joint credit card debt, put a down payment on your dream home, etc. Stop begging for their support for you to do the work, esp. when it comes to network marketing success.
Go do the work Daily.
