I don’t know about you, but I have had a lot of chats with my existing clients, online communities, and business partners, and I wanted to share my perspective. Did you have a social media marketing plan before covid-19? Most of my small business owner friends don’t either.
By the way, my family and I have chosen to NOT consume News on TV so this perspective is more or less what we are doing. As a small business owner myself, I prefer to stay sane and keep my vibrations high.
Here’s the truth…
So many keyworkers, independent or freelancers and small businesses are struggling to not drown in the wake of the global lockdown. Several organisations are helping out including celebrities like Taylor Swift.
As a boutique business owner, I thought I should help in some way, pay it forward too. Trust me I feel your pain and, in a way, do comprehend why many business owners feel that the absolute first business cut back for them maybe social media and/or paid ads.

Those who do the above consistently with love, integrity, inspiring others to stay positive; those businesses will survive the coronavirus effect on the economy.
Yes, I hear you say; your industry/niche has been hit harder and faster. For instance; food and beverage businesses, hotels, airlines, travel services, high street retailers, small shop owners, small business owners worldwide, Start-ups I people connect niches, real estate, market vendors in developing countries, etc.
You are not alone. I know it’s no consolation!?
Yet, believe it or not, other industries are thriving despite the pandemic. In fact, DUE to the situation you might say.

What you Could Do – Social Media Marketing.
Despite what you may think and the difficulty with which I say this:
The more you invest in your social media and digital marketing systems and processes, the faster your business will regenerate and even maybe grow some during this storm.
#1. Using available digital options, emails, skype, zoom, social media posts:
- Let your existing customers know what else they can do to stay positive and also served.
- Try to keep your staff, even if it’s on a reduced wage, if possible. Now is not the time to give someone the boot, when the whole world is on its knees. If anything, encourage them to Up their skills online in this low business season, so they have a better chance of keeping their job.
- Communicate HOW you will be communicating with clients, suppliers, staff going forward.
#2. I for one believe that those businesses and organizations that keep a professional Social Media and Digital presence will survive. If you have a Social Media Strategy or digital strategy, do go right ahead and put it to work. You might tweak it a bit, but definitely keep it going.
#3. If you Don’t have a Website, NOW is the time to get that sorted. And don’t get any old website done, you need to be able to get your staff working remotely and also serve your clients/customers who are Online now.
So, get a professional website built today starting from £250.
#4. Do you have a website? Then, now is the time to re-brand, spruce it up. It is the time to get your website Search Engine Optimized – SEO and get some Website Marketing going. Raise brand awareness so high you have clients on wait-list when this is all over.
#5. If you cannot keep staff on, then definitely outsource some of your admin and social media tasks to freelancers and small agencies to help maintain business. You will also be supporting a hard-hit industry i.e. virtual admins, freelancers, and solo-preneurs.
In other words, I suggest that you maintain and keep your marketing structures and processes operational. Especially stay on top of or get professional help with your; Social Media Marketing and Website marketing. You will reap the benefits even as we go through this tough season and in the New World.

So important. I’m a content creator and a few client were going to cancel services during this because they’re temporarily shutting down – I had to explain to them how right now is when people have time to read the blogs on hotels, and they’re dreaming of traveling again. I fortunately was able to convince them and we’re already seeing an increase in traffic, but so many businesses forget that they have to open back up after this! Now is the time to start or update websites, build up content, and expand into digital areas.
