Pinterest Video – Is it too little too late?
If you want to increase your brand visibility and authority, you just got a new opportunity. Have you also been praying that Pinterest allows you to Upload your videos directly? I have and goodness me they have delivered Pinterest Video just when I was considering IGTV for our brand…
Until late 2018, the only way to pin a video on Pinterest was to click your YouTube video share button, or create an image and link it to your video.
Now guess what, Pinterest has embraced the video craze and has rolled out “Early Access” Video Pinning.
Today for early access users, you can directly upload your video to Pinterest and pin it. Without a Special button from your site. #doingahappydance
I believe this access is to Business accounts only, all the same its good news….Bah scratch that…
This is such fantastic news I cannot tell you how exciting it is for me a video and content Marketer.
You may be wondering what’s the criteria and what video size? Think no more below are the deets.
Your Video needs to be in MOV or mp4 format and
A minimum of 240p resolution, so the more High Def the better.
For best results it can be aspect ratio: vertical approx. 9:16 or a perfect square.

Pinterest Video – What types work best?
When I first tried uploading a video it was a full-on training approx. 35 minutes and I waited…and waited…and finally I go the “Video too long” message! :/
So, I edited it some to 23 minutes…Still no joy. I uploaded a shorter video I’d made for a Facebook Ad under 1 minute…And I got the “Video too short” warning.
Finally, I uploaded a 10 minutes video and bingo. We got lift off.
So, at the moment, I believe, any video under both 10 minutes and 10mbs but not under 4 seconds, is ok. It can be a product teaser like the old Instagram videos.
In fact, I also upload audio-grams for our “Your Power Echoes” podcast.
Test out the kind of videos you see in Facebook Sponsored Ads. Animated videos, DIY, recipes, crafts videos. Those definitely will be doing well in the long run on Pinterest too. Videos that show behind the scenes action, ingredients of products, how to do stuff…super-fast. Or a snippet with pointer to learn more on a bigger video or web page.
Imagine how your video may inspire your target audience to take action. That draws them audience in and gets that click. Do that video.

How to Upload and Leverage Pinterest Video for More Traffic
By the way Do follow me on Pinterest for even More deeper Pinterest Marketing Tips
As you can see from image above. Its pretty simple to upload your video.
I recommend you create a “Video Specific Board” that is also niched.
Upload your video as per above image. Add your desired Title, preferably your focus long tailed Keyword.
Give it a good description with your keyword thrown in for good measure. This is where it gets fun for food recipe and DIY videos. Your description can be a snippet of the ingredients and your audience can visit the linked page for prep deets.
Do add 2-3 hashtags tops. Very important if you intend to run a Promoted Pin ad with your video. Use your branded hashtag to brand your video.
Add that “destination link” where your audience can learn more about your Offer or message. And you can either publish immediately or schedule for a later date/time.

Exactly Djebe So good of Pinterest Video to finally make its Debit 🙂
Interesting post – some great tips and advice here! I will definitely have to take some of this on board next time I am having a blogging block and more traffic x
I probably should do more Pinterest marketing, but so far I can’t get motivated to spend the necessary time there. I don’t much like watching videos unless I need to know how to do something like change a printer cartridge. Most of my blog posts aren’t product or DIY oriented. I realize the world is going video when I’m still a reader and like it that way. If I get directed to a video with no text that gives me the same information, I just leave. I enjoy writing and photography, but not videos of people talking. I absorb information better by reading and get it faster that way. I guess I’m a dinosaur.
Loved reading more about the details of Pinterest videos, like video length etc. Very helpful, thank you!
Glad you got some value Suchot 🙂
I’m just getting started with pinterest so this was very useful information for me. Video seems a good way forward.
