Pinterest SEO and Traffic 2021- Is Pinterest Still on your Marketing Radar? Then Pay Attention
Okay, are you wondering; what the heck am I gonna do with Traffic 2021? And are we are clear on what’s going on with Pinterest? I’m going to go out on a limb here and say play a waiting game and follow some of the best practices I share today! So, in today’s episode, I talk about Pinterest Seo and traffic.
Wait you don’t know what’s going on? Go Here and Here to do some catching up my friend, you will thank you later.
Now, what I go into today, is how to SEO optimize your Pin images and profile as a business owner and marketer.
- The description of your Pinterest account.
- The boards, within your Pinterest account, and finally for each individual pin, how to SEO optimize them all.
- What’s on the pin?
- The title of the pin and the description of the pin every single pin that you’re planning to put on your Pinterest page, right?
We are going back to basics for all our new web visitors, so if you are long in the tooth, bear with! ?
By the way, do you find that your Pin description disappears once you publish it? Well, apparently Pinterest sees it and uses that info to index your content… So chin up my friend and let’s do this.
Pinterest SEO - back to basics for an increase in your traffic for your website.
Let’s Do Your Pinterest SEO and Traffic 2021
Start with NAMING Your Profile. You can do this too if you are revamping your Pinterest.
Use one of your strongest Keywords in that too. Here is how to find that.
Type into the Pinterest search bar your niche/product/service keywords and you will get a drop-down of More Trending and Pinterest relevant keywords that are related to your niche. Now go to Google and Do the same.
Visit YouTube and Do the same. You will now have an Arsenal of Keywords people are searching for in your niche for your website, eCommerce store, blog, YouTube channel, or Podcast.
Write them down in a spreadsheet and be sure to include them in the content you create. And following places on Pinterest:
- Your Profile Headline
- Profile description
- Pinterest Images
If you look at the image below, it is clear what the Profile is about… Travel. This Profile receives over 800,000 Impressions per month and over 10,000 web visitors with only 3000 followers!
So now you have got keywords in your favor. Populate your boards with such keyword-rich content that people are searching for. They will visit your profile and related pins/content too. Some follow you or your boards.
On this specific website/blog, some of the keywords we used that we want to be known for are:
- Social media marketing
- Social media Management
- Home Business Training
- Blogging tips for beginners,
- How to make money online…
And, these are the essential basics of setting up your Pinterest profile.
Let’s Do Your Boards. This could be your very first board. Or it could be your very first properly OPTIMIZED Board.
Remember your keyword List Above? That’s your go t0 here too. Create several sentences that have at least 2 -3 of the keywords you found in the search. You are going to test which ones work best you see.
Go visit your more Successful niche stars Profiles. Check what keywords they have used on their boards. Again Create similar descriptions…Success leaves clues, right?
Now go Optimize your Board Names and Descriptions too.
I believe in utilizing every piece of premium real estate on social media so we have a pretty long description: on the Travel Profile above.
As you can see loads of different keywords within the name and description. So potentially, if you were to search for some of those keywords, then you might come across my profile or some of our Boards.
You too, you’re really gonna want to use the full amount of characters offered and get as many keywords as possible into your board description. See the example Board below.
There are so many keywords in there about travel lifestyle. We really filled it with keywords without stuffing! Make sense?
Did you know that the board name for our Business Profile – image below is one of the most searched for terms by new bloggers on Pinterest?
We created this board because that is one of the top keywords in our niche i.e. blogging for beginners. If you type in “blogging” on Pinterest the thing most people search for is; blogging for beginners. And as you can see below, we have over 200 Pins inside that board.
Pinterest SEO Best Practice for more Trafic
Now, let us talk about your individual pin images.
You have quite a few words you can use to describe your Pin images. Always do your keyword research. If you don’t know how I recommend that you take a deep look at our White Hat SEO resource.
You needed a long description, use lots of different keywords in a meaningful way. For instance, in the article above, I have a ton of tags and it attracts a lot of traffic from people who need to do some basic SEO for their websites, from Pinterest.
Use lots of different keywords in a meaningful way for your Pinterest description
Let’s look at a real Pin Image.
The actual picture must have your Keyword as Text Overlay, like the image below.
Use the Text Overlay as your Pin headline with a slight variation to the Keyword. This shouldn’t be the same as your content headline. You are meant to get as many of your longtailed keyword variations linked to your content as possible.
The name of the pin is “Social Media Leads”, and the keywords within the description are different as well. While pointing to leads from social media, social media lead generation, etc. Loads of different keywords.
Unlike earlier recommendations, I DONT Recommend you repin your Pin images to various Boards.
Instead, let your followers Save/Repin as that’s the new Pinterest Best Practice.
Pin just 1-2 pin images linked to your content to relevant boards and you will be fine.
Can you pin the same URL with different pictures on the same day?
I say scheduled the varying images days apart, to avoid the current Pinterest spam slap. I’d say at least 72 hours i.e. 3 days apart.
As glitchy as Pinterest seems lately, I’d focus on creating new content and fresh pin images.
So lots of keywords, variations in as many areas of your Pin real estate, capisce?
Are Hashtags part of your Pinterest Strategy?
Well, NO.
We have decided to leave hashtags to Instagram, Twitter, and Linkedin for now.
Honestly, Pinterest powers that be keep hee-hawing on hashtags, it is enough to drive one bonkers!
And, since we can use hashtags effectively elsewhere we rather do that and avoid them completely on Pinterest.
Unless we are running a promoted Pin campaign. Then we add 2-3 targeted keyword hashtags.
You are best advised to do that.
Also, remember Pin-thieves? If you’re using hashtags in any of your titles, descriptions, etc. the Pin scrapers are able via hashtags to hack your Pinterest pins, steal your popular pin and reroute to their URL.
It is the most annoying thing, esp. as Pinterest doesn’t seem to have a clear policy about it, even if you report it.
So instead use the right keywords for your topics and boards relevant to your website categories.
Pinterest SEO Checklist – Round Up:
You just need to remember to SEO optimize the name of your profile, the description of your profile, all of your board names, and descriptions plus each of your individual pins.
The longer your pins are circulating means they’ll have time to gain traction. Give theme, Stay consistent with keywords getting your content out and be patient.
Long term, you’ll probably get better results if you tailor each Pin image to a relevant board. Try to make it appeal to a different audience with the long-tailed keywords you use in a new description.
If you can pin fresh content maybe twice a week, you will be just fine. Fingers and toes crossed! ??
I hope you enjoyed this tutorial. I have a whole Pinterest Tips category aimed at your Pintastic growth.
