Network Marketing Prospecting – Millennials:
These are people born between 1981 -2000 more or less brought up by the baby boomers. They love the fact that they are digital “experts and don’t respond well to negative feedback. They are quite a substantial number over 20 billion globally.
They are quite adventurous and live for now not tomorrow….or so they like to think!
They are multitaskers, which is not a great positive in network marketing, but is apparently great in the corporate world.Go figure! They are looking for a lifestyle balance.
They are focused on meaningful work and prefer authentic experiences…
So how do you tie this up in your business presentation? We couldn’t possibly answer this Qn without knowing what you promote. We have given you some juicy info to get back to your Avatar and create and attract your ideal client. If this is your target market get to work buddy!
Network Marketing Prospecting – Characteristics of Millennials:
Millennials so live with purpose, participatory. They live in the now. They are multi takers and are digital communicators. They have given the baby boomers a new lease. Online and live life with digital media. In that light they like to make decisions based on their friends recommendations. They literally crave change. They want it…So if you present your business the right way and touch a pain point, they will jump in with both feet. Keep these general bits in mind in your network marketing prospecting!
Millennials are tenacious and this tenacity could go either way depending on your posture.
They like interactive communication. They like to participate in the conversation, they are always on social media and digital stuff doesn’t faze them. They maintain huge connections on social media. The kind of people who have maxed out their Facebook Friends list! They like to maintain relationships. They look for their peers online with new ideas, opportunities and products. This makes them a powerful business force.
Millennials worry most about relationships! Marriage, friends, Divorce, children etc! These are their pain points or soft spots!
NOTE: Always remember these are general observations in your network marketing prospecting! This age group may be different in specific people remember we said one size doesn’t fit all! So let us ask you a question….

Understanding our target market is essential. Finding a target market who is like you works well because you can be yourself. I know I won’t get everyone, but I don’t have to pretend to understand the needs and can be natural. Another winning article Julie & Paul.
Hi Julie, I love that you say one size does not fit all. I think that applies not only within Network Marketing, but within business: different people take to Network Marketing rather than internet marketing, some like affiliate marketing. It is horses for courses, as we say! Thanks very much.
Exactly Loiuisa,
Thanks for your contribution. There are so many variables in the Internet Marketing space its simply wise for one to understand
that one size doesnt fit all. Find your target and give them what they want…to a great extent, they will make it fit! 🙂

Very interesting run down on the Millenials. I don’t have a lot of contact with that age group and therefore don’t know a lot about their habits and values — other than that they are often on their “phone.” Yes, certainly is time to narrow in on the avatar and get to work with them. Whereas one size does not fit all, there are certain characteristics that usually hold true such as lamguage. Thanks for filling us in on this age group.
You are most welcome Carol.
And definitely tap into this group because they are huge and they definitely will be the baby boomers of tomorrow wit disposable income to build a whole new income.
he are also the hardest hit in terms of over qualifications and not appreciated at work…or are they! Maybe because we are in this group lol:)
J&PK~
Definitely good advice when prospecting and when you start to talk to someone and are asking questions, this is when you find out the information to best serve them. Thanks for the great content today!
You are most welcome Robert. Glad you found value

What has helped me in my networking marketing venture is my drive to want to help people whether they buy from me or not. If I am able to help encourage someone to lose weight by eating healthier or walking around the block that makes me happy. I realized early on that not everyone is ready to pay money for the products that I have to offer and that’s ok. I’m not going to stop helping them and coaching them through their journey. Too many network marketers are all about the money and they are the ones who burn out early.
We love business ethos Cyndi and thats how it should be really.
Yet thats also why we have the 97/3% statistics. Because most people look at others as dollar signs.
Lets continue to help more people get what they want. By learning a lil about the psychology.
Thanks for your contribution 🙂

One thing that I hate is being “prospected” when it is clear that I am not interested. Telling me stories about – let us say – how much money I can make is not going to influence me. Many network marketers seem to think that money and “the lifestyle” works for everyone. Well it does not – so aside from age, I think it is also important to understand you target’s unique motivating factor. That’s my two cents on your great post.
Hi Claudette,
Thanks for your contribution. Indeed no one likes to feels like they are being “sold to” or “Prospected.”
We like to think we have made our decision by our good selves. And that’s how it should be. The Feel good factor is very important in life esp. the sales process for both the seller and customer.
Quick Example: For instance you visit your local grocery store weekly maybe several times too. They dont cajole, beg, convince or chase you at all. You have convinced your self of the value you get form that store. And by the way someone must have “Suggested” it to you or you noticed an advert, when you first moved to your local area. Or it was greatly advertised as it was built and launched. Several factors got you to use that particular store…Most of which are based on convenience, distance, may be customer care and your favorite something being sold there…
Yes you are very cleverly prospected…every blessed day via adverts on/offline. You just dont FEEL as if you are. Thats a learned Art, Posture & Mastery that most online entrepreneurs sadly lack!
Pauli
Great post Sylvia, prospecting doesn’t have to be difficult but it is very difficult for a great majority of marketers. Becoming a great communicator goes a long way in attracting potential customers and clients for any business. If you can COMMUNICATE to them how they can benefit from what you have to offer it becomes a win win situation for everyone.
Thanks for adding value Sylvia.
Stephane
Hi Stephane,
You are most welcome and thanks for your contribution!
Julie & Paul
You are right Julie. One size doesn’t fit all in prospecting. We have to be ready to innovate and try new things. Thanks for sharing!
You are most welcome Adewale!
Pauli
This is so funny but not really. Had to stop a team mate from using a script the other day LOL.
great post
Lolol, You are so funny Bro. Thanks for your comment!
This is helpful for me, Julie. I’m at the juncture of pinpointing the audience for my books, and this helps! Thank you.
Hey Susan,
We are glad to have been of help. Thanks for your time!
Great post Julie! We certainly needed to tailor our strategy based on the different age groups
Absolutely Poh,
We cant just put everyone in the one pot and expect great results. Its the same as we don’t target everyone.
Coz not everyone is a fit for what we do.
Thanks.
Pauli
Awesome post Julie you need to communicate differently with Millennials than baby boomers, thank you!
Its the best communicator that makes the most dollars. So why not learn the psychology behind the different age groups 🙂
Thanks for your comment Vitaliy
Julie
Great prospecting tips! Love this!
Thank you Lisa!
You are right, there is no one size fits all when it comes to prospecting various age groups. One of the key things that you have to do is listen to what the person is telling you when they answer questions. That gives you an idea what the person is looking for!
Listening is absolutely essential thanks for contributing.
Coz thats when you can tel their tone, inner thoughts and untold qns!
Understanding the general psychology is also important.
Same way we look at people in terms of colours aka Red, Blue, Green Yellow.
This is a general guide.
