7 POWER STEPS TO LEVERAGE PINTEREST FOR BUSINESS 2021 – FOR NEW START-UPS
If you are new to this hub, then you may not know that I talk about Pinterest a lot. This is purely because Pinterest has been a major traffic source and thus pathway in the success of our websites and business.
At one point Pinterest was singlehandedly sending between 3000-6000 daily website visitors to our blogs.
This massively boosted our SERPS, website traffic, our email list, and clients.
So today, allow me to share my 7 Power Steps to Leverage Pinterest for Business 2021 – For Business Startups, Network Marketers, and Savvy Corporates. This can be implemented in just a few minutes daily. Before I do as you know…
With every Kalungi Group episode, we share a resource with you at Zero Cost that you can immediately access and implement to help increase your business, non-profit or individual results.
Today I am excited to share with you our revamped FREE Online Masterclass to attract at least 1000 web visitors per day using Pinterest.
What I love about it is that you get under the radar tips to get your Pinterest traffic faster with less effort. And I use these very steps I share for our business.
Even influencers; the likes of Jenna Kutcher, swear by Pinterest today. So get on there and enjoy, do let me know how you get on.
With success is always strategy and focused Action, yet even professional marketers arent really tapping into the power of this platform. I want to make sure you are not making the mistakes they are doing by setting up correctly on Pinterest so that you too achieve your desired results.
So let’s get started.
How to use Pinterest for Business in 7 Steps
#1. Create pins for all of your Power content.
I am talking about promotional Social media posts – Facebook, Instagram, YouTube videos, LinkedIn posts. Of course for your courses, freemium, blog posts, etc. Also, any page, message, or post on your website can and should have a pin image for it.
By the way, when creating pins, keep the text overlay simple and descriptive. The text you add to your pins should clearly communicate what the user will find.
The best-performing pins are tall images 1000 x 1500 pixels minimum. If you aren’t very creative or artistic, I highly recommend that you create pins using a free resource called Canva or platforms like Picmonkey. If you appreciate the expertise and freeing your time to focus on your zone of genius, you can simply hire a freelancer or a boutique agency to do the heavy lifting for you.
#2. Collaborate –
Find or Create a community of like-minded and complementary business owners. Individuals who share and support each other’s Pinterest efforts. Group boards used to be the ultimate key to your Pinterest success. Then Tailwind created Tribes now called “Tailwind Communities” and the winds were taken out of Group Boards. They also had become mostly spammy, link dropping zones.
With communities, you can build up a niche Pinterest audience and generate significant traffic to your website.
So what is a Tailwind Community? Well, just like it sounds, and according to Tailwind:
Tailwind Communities is a tool that enables you to connect and grow with other Pinterest creators just like you!
So, join Tailwind Communities by creating your Free tailwind account here.
Tailwind allows you to also schedule your pins in advance. I can safely say at the time of publishing though, that it’s better to manually Pin your content for now. Coz with just 3 pins a day tops, you may not need to schedule. Pinterest prefers it that way… Even if it’s a pain.
Otherwise, Tailwind is the #1 Pinterest scheduler that allows you to schedule your pins to be automatically pushed out at any time you choose.
The thing is with more followers than even your own personal Pinterest account, you are more likely to attract your crowd via a Tailwind community than going it solo. And Tailwind makes it super easy to not only find but join your tribe, so try it.
Pinterest gives you a variety of options to supercharge your pins.
#3. Optimize your Profile & Content –
To do that you may need to visit my YouTube channel and simply click on the Pinterest Playlist. A treasure trove of FREE training on optimizing, marketing, and how to use Pinterest as a business.
Now let’s face it, Pinterest gives us all a variety of options to supercharge our content via pin images. Top of the list being with rich pins.
Rich pins pull extra data from your link and include it within the pin such as the price, ingredients from a recipe, or an excerpt from your blog posts. This makes your pins more complete and compelling to click on.
For Richpins to work, you must also optimize your account by switching to a business profile.
This will also allow you to access in-app analytics and run Promoted Pins aka advertising on Pinterest. In my humble opinion, you will get more bang for your buck from Pinterest Ads than Facebook Ads.
Pro Tip: You want to optimize your pin captions by including searchable long-tail keywords and calls to action that encourage users to click. Selecting keywords can be tricky, so I suggest reading my article on Whitehat SEO here.
#4. Avoid This Mistake –
Sending your traffic directly to your website all the time. See, lots of influencers advise you to simply build an audience. I say Build Your List. Ask people to show their hand, how interested are they in what you share.
Even your freebies could determine how interested they would be in your paid offers. So ask for their details; email, a name, that’s it. Then serve them in a more focused way.
I am a firm believer in the fact that life does get busy and people genuinely get interrupted by their life and work commitments. With Covid-19 they have a lot on their minds…
So as tempting as it may seem to send your audience/traffic directly to a link to a webpage, eCommerce store, or network marketing sign-up page, PLEASE first capture their contact information.
Because if that person gets distracted and they lose your webpage, or social profile, then you can always stay in touch if you got their contact info, right?
#5. Ask for Help –
If you don’t ask, you don’t get… 💁😍
So take every chance to encourage others to pin your content. From your website to your other social media platforms, and especially on Pinterest.
You want to ensure that if someone reads one of your posts and they love it, they can then pin it to Pinterest.
See, having other people pin your content and images is vital to your content marketing and website traffic plan.
The top of this list is to add social sharing buttons on every page and post on your website. If you’re using WordPress, there are many plugins you can add to help with this. The Sumo plugin even allows you to add social share buttons to your images.
I highly recommend that you install the official Pinterest save button to your website, so whenever someone hovers over an image, a small share button will appear that lets them pin your content on the go.
To do this, you need to add a bit of code to your website, so ask your webmaster to do it. Or simply reach out to K-Web Social Designs to help you out.
#6. Step four, the 80/20 rule.
When it comes to Pinterest, we of course want to be pinning our own content, and we can pin only our own content if we like.
That said, how much fun can you have if you threw a party for just you?
Plus, the Pinterest algorithm will be more likely to favor your account if it sees a variety of content from different websites. So be a giver too, share other people’s content.
You could share content complimentary to your brand. Share affiliate products that make you some commission cash from, share your interests. So even if you only share 2-3 pins from your own website a day, you can still pin at least 3 pins from other websites when you do your own.
Also, other pinners and visitors to your profile will see you, aren’t just self-promoting, and will be more likely to follow you. So the 80/20 rule means that you’ll be posting 80% of your content to 20% of other creators’ content.
This is not a hard and fast rule, but it is a good ratio to aim for.

Others pinning your content and images is vital to your content marketing and website traffic plan.
#7. Always Be Measuring –
Those who measure/rack their steps, get to their end goals faster, it’s as simple as that. So, take every chance to monitor your journey and traffic using Pinterest, Tailwind, and Google analytics.
When it comes to business, tracking every metric you can is the stairway that leads to growth and scale.
By monitoring, your analytics you can see exactly which pins/content are bringing the most traffic to your site. And which are getting you the best results.
When you’ve identified what those pins are, you can double down by running a promotion to that pin for even better scalable results.
On the flip side, you’ll also identify pins or content that’s not performing. You can then consider changing the design, improving the clarity of the text, rewriting your content, or just the description, re-pinning them to brand new boards. Or simply canning it.
How To Use Pinterest To Advertise Your Business – Conclusion
By following the above steps, you can significantly increase the amount of targeted traffic to your website, which will ultimately increase your numbers. From your social media followers to subscribers and even paying customers.
So always create a pin image for every new piece of content and continually measure your efforts to ascertain what provides the most value to your business. And, that’s my 7-power steps to Pinterest for business success.
