Okay, I used to think the same and I hear so many new marketers crying about it. It is a common complaint: How do you build a targeted audience, esp. on Social media for your business growth?
And I know the feeling because we were there when I first started in our home business.
Do you often wonder:
🔥I don’t have enough friends or have no friends left to share my business ideas, opportunity or products/services with?
🔥 And, where the heck do I find more people to talk to?
🔥 What do I post to attract the right kind of people who are looking for what I offer?
Well, you just relax and let me help you out here! In today’s episode, I am going to share with you 10 effective ways or tips to build a solid following on Facebook or any other social platform you choose to work with to build your network marketing or business.
How to Build a Targeted Audience on Social Media for Business Success. My 10-point program!
These are the same steps I use to have a constant flow of interested “Friend Requests” from people who usually turn into interested prospects and at least 10% turn into my Soul High end Clients!
People I love to work with and who I believe also are looking to be served by us in some way esp. via what we offer here at kalungi Group. ⬇️⬇️
1️⃣ First like anything worth doing, building a targeted audience on any platform, will require:
- Knowing WHO it is you are targeting,
- EFFORT and Work on your part,
- Being Open to new and unique ways of building an audience, including paid strategies!
Meaning, its not something you will dabble in for a few weeks and if you don’t see results you throw in the towel!
If you expect microwave results, drop the plan right now. Yes, sometimes its best to Quit early than spend money you don’t have on something you aren’t committed to.
Okay, if you are still here, lets get to work, before we get into the first step allow me to share…
With every Kalungi Group episode, we share with you a resource with practical tips to help you hit the ground running and getting results faster in your business. In today’s episode, we share our off the cuff FREE: Ideal Client Avatar Finder PDF!
I love this resource, because with every resource we share we must know WHO are we creating it for, WHY and Where do they hang out. That way we cut the journey shorter and target the right people who NEED the buffet we have prepared for them!
Now back to the first step in Building a targeted follower/fan base…
2️⃣ Look for and Join your hobby, niche, interest groups.
Or communities where your ideal customer or client hangs out. Once in there, don’t go spammy or becoming sale-zilla.
Take a moment to get to know the group rules and ethos, the admins;
What is the common thread that runs in the group posts?
Any questions that are unanswered or you have a deeper insight on?
And is the group active? NO point staying in a dead zone, it simply weighs down your Edge rank!
Now that yo have a YES on all above 3 questions, Make yourself known in the group.
Share a brief intro (NO LINKS) with a photo of you as anchor with it. It makes you stand out and of course a photo stops the “scroll” and builds that relatability faster…They feel like they know you!
Introduce yourself and be more human than marketer in that intro.
Then GIVE value with no expectation of anything in return.
3️⃣ Do unto others:
In other words, how would you like to be treated by other group members? Do that.
Be helpful in those groups you deliberately chose to be part of! Imagine someone has asked a question, if you know the answer to that question, share it. Show them how they can solve that problem and you just may have made a fan…and her followers in that group and beyond too!
The more questions you answer, even if you start the discussion yourself, the more you stand out as a resourceful person, a “Go Giver” read that book by the way.
Those who love to follow a leader will send you friend requests, follow you and tell others of your kindness and giving nature…
Desists from sharing links in groups unless you are allowed to or you explain why you are doing so. Otherwise simply tell the asker, that you can share a resource in their inbox… If you are friends it ends up in their Messenger inbox, so invite them to become your friends or followers!
4️⃣ Engage, Engage, Engage:
Don’t be a link dropper. I.e. just posting your own content and never commenting, sharing, liking another person’s content!
For instance, those Facebook emojis are there for a reason! Use the Heart, Wow, Sad emojis more than the “Like and Angry” ones!
Participate in threads that are of posts not shared by you, again do unto others! People notice these things!
You want to build your audience, right? Well you gotta become that person that others would follow first!
5️⃣ Find Active niche Pages with Large Follower numbers, Network.
As a business coach, I love checking out Lewis Howes, Marie Forleo, Lisa Nicols, Grant Cardone, Network Marketing Pro Facebook pages.
The page admins post threads that attract a lot of interest and engagement. What I do is I marked them as “See First” (See image below) that way I get notified of their posts fast and join the conversation.
The top 5 responders in such threads also get lots of engagement on their comments and of course friend requests and followers.
Check out pages of folks that are not already your friends.
ENGAGE with a value well thought out comment on their posts.
Connect with people with whom you share something in common i.e. mutual friends, similar niche, healthy living, skin care, fashion, mom-preneurs etc.
Pro Tip: I see so many marketers/bloggers in syndication groups who just do just what they got to. Never taking a moment to actually SEE the pure value behind some of the posts they come across in syndications…
They thus continue to struggle day I day out, when often times they scanned the solution without truly taking it in!
That’s why we wrote about having a blog commenting strategy…Connect with people with whom you share something in common
6️⃣ Engage with other Page Followers and Commenters:
After I leave a value comment on a page post, about 2 hours later I get back to the post and engage with other commenters. I point to any free resources for deeper details, including our own if we have one!
I emote i.e. use those emojis in my comment to their response. Then, I tag them like this @JulieSylKalungi to get their attention.
Often times, these people check us out, follow, “Stalk us” for a bit and then send a friend request. #Boom.
7️⃣ Create and share valuable tips, content too.
These should be on your own personal profile. Why?
So that when people check you out, they see value relevant information. They get to see you as a “Valuable Resource” even if they do not know you as a person.
People justify their connecting with a stranger on social because you become a “resource” through the value you share.
You want complete strangers to join your team, buy stuff from you instead of their known generic online store? Then show up as that person people would trust like an online store.People justify their connecting with a stranger on social because you become a “resource”
8️⃣ Be Bold Take the Conversation to Messenger:
Okay this is funny…I used to find it creepy chatting with people I didn’t know in messenger. “Stranger danger” and all that crap! Here is why I no longer use this as an excuse…
We go to school to be taught by strangers i.e teacher. You do meet complete strangers and sit in class with them as class mates, you just get used to them. How about the strangers on buses and public transport? You do travel with them in relative safety… So why fear other humans? One is as safe as they FEEL and Decide they are!
See, I realised; how do I get to know a person better and show them I am a human with a heart and expect them to buy from me or join my team, If I look at them as a potential threat to my life or well being? Plus, I may have a solution to a need, problem they have, if I don’t hold conversations how will I ever know?
You too must get out of your own head and ask you this question, next time you hesitate to reach out to a new person, who could become a prospect and a customer/team member! I say create Separate Lists…

Today, you don’t have to be concerned about using messenger as a business tool. You MUST leverage it. And can even hold a group chat instead of a 3-way call for your Network Marketing prospecting.
Understand that although in my humble view it is NOT essential, something powerful shifts when people hear your voice, and see your face. It’s more personal. Not many are doing this as they build online so this will make you stand out, build your tribe and increase your sales faster too.
9️⃣ Be a Servant Leader– Focus on service, and do it with consistency, joy and gratitude. (By the way read about why gratitude is Key to your business success.)
Always look for how you can be of help or service to others. Ask questions to understand their deep-rooted fears, problems, desires and pain points. Offer what you have of value that could meet their need, solve their problems or move them close to that desire. And you will definitely build a targeted audience faster than you know it.
1️⃣0 Hold a Watch Party inside an active niche Group.
As a new addition to the facebook functions and tools, most marketers haven’t yet caught on how to leverage watch parties…
If you decide to hold a watch party daily for 21 days on a specific subject, you will be considered the expert. Beauty is you can just replay your old videos from your page.
These watch parties last only for 24 hours and so you must be on point and consistently show up with your topic, activity to grab the attention of group members!
If you run own business, you could:
- hold a live sale,
- Box opening
- show your product,
- show behind the scenes of your business… etc
Trust me you will attract and build a following of fans who just like what you do. Or love that you are doing it inside the group. They will BUY if you show them stuff, they are looking for.
Answer questions, call out attendees by name, get them to engage, invite them to connect…or invite their friends to the Watch party!

Take time to build your audience, serve and engage them. They will be the Tribe that will ultimately buy from you, become your brand ambassadors, and partner with you!
