You were lucky to get 2% of your fans seeing your content! Then Facebook came to the rescue with live-streaming…and of course Facebook video ads followed suit!
Boy were many marketer’s online lead generation saved, I for one am sure grateful!

Frankly they are way better than YouTube Ads, ever since the changes to YouTube algorithm! Although for text and image based Ads, I would say Promoted Pins on Pinterest trump all platforms hands down!

So, why are Facebook video ads that powerful?
Really, it’s a game of numbers. With over 1.04 billion daily Facebook users, you can reach more of the right people with Facebook’s suite of targeting features. In fact, Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg says that more of Facebook’s property will be focused on video in the next few years!

Then, here is a secret, video ads only make up 12% of the adverts on Facebook. This means that video ads will and do stand out from the other types of ads on Facebook. So, why facebook video ads? 1 simple reason:
Not many people or companies are currently using video ads. This is an advantage for those who do. BUT….
Facebook video ads marketing is not necessarily the right fit for every brand, service or product!
To help you better leverage Facebook video ads for more sales, here are 4 questions to keep in mind prior to cutting your ad or live video.
Please note: You don’t need to have the answer to all of these questions when creating your first Facebook Live video, but you do need to know the answer before you create and run any ads. So, without further ado…
Facebook Video Ads Essentials
- Who do you want to see your ad?
Hint: the answer isn’t everyone. For example, if you run a heating and air conditioning business, 11 year old boys don’t need to see your ad. You want to target your ad to the people who are most likely to make buying decisions about your product or service. How will you target your audience though?
Well the Facebook platform gives you several options the most immediate being; by city, zip code, or other pages?
- What is the End Result You are Looking for i.e. The Ad goals?
Heck yeah Jules, let’s make more scrilla! I hear you, I know all of us including charities, have the main overall goal of increasing revenue to build your vision!
Yet, your immediate goal may be different. So aside from making it a Bold Goal, is your goal measurable?
- Do you want more Facebook page likes?
- Maybe you are looking for more Video views aka clicks,
- brand awareness, whatever it is! Make it clear because it will affect your audience and budget!
But all this is moot if you haven’t set aside this one thing…So, let’s talk about it then, the budget…?
What is your Ads budget?
How much have you budgeted for your Facebook video ads? Of course, it does matter what your target market is. But if your product can only be focused on a local market i.e. inbound marketing, you can set your daily ad spend at $5 – $10 per day, let it run for at least 14-21 days and still get results. For a wider audience it is much better to set it at $10 – 20 per day to get desired results!
Note that, the more you can spend and the more targeted with the right message, the more ROI you can expect. That being said, I suggest you do not spend too much right out of the gate. It is better to test, track and fine tune your ads to make sure your message is getting engagement from your audience and bringing your CTA desired action…Ohh
- Did you Forget the Call to Action (CTA)?
This is the most important part of your facebook video advert. You need to Tell your audience: “What Next” “What to do to know more”, “The next course of action” Or “Where to get your offer.” Your Ad wants them to do something, right? It is called a Call To action aka CTA.
Make it clear by telling them WHAT it is you want them to do. Make it eye catching, galvanising, hypnotising, because you want that Action to also include more engagement: sharing, liking and commenting on your Ad, so facebook bots think it is popular and they show it to even more people! Got it?
The question you must answer is: Do people want what I am offering? If it’s a definitive YES…Then do your research and put some Ads dollar behind your product/service!

I recommend that you start with simple target choices to help you build your core consumer audience. As your business grows, you might want to zone in deeper and narrow down your ad focus. Its essential that the following areas of your Ad campaign can be tweaked: demographics, location, interests and behaviours.
