Thinking About a Personal Audit? 5 Reasons Why Its Time To Stop thinking and Start Doing!
LISTEN TO THE FIRST STEPS Of YOUR PERSONAL AUDIT HERE FIRST!
The end of the first quarter of the year is less than a month away. Question is – Where are you on the Resolutions you made at the start of the year? SIT DOWN and have a personal audit, your quarterly stock taking so to speak. So you step closer to your dreams and create an amazing year. Here is the deal, I would love to cheer you on and Help you achieve those goals, but you have to do some work right!
So in this post I am arming you with the basics, 3 Super steps plus 2 sub-steps on how to carry out a Personal skills audit and business audit for you the Home Business owner or internet marketer. This is to ensure that you are on the right track for an amazingly productive year!
It’s essential that you do the following once every Week and Month. This is your basic self-audit process. It will set you up on your personal audit journey. So let’s weigh in with you! If you are a Visual person you can watch the process here! Otherwise tune into audio above as you rock your exercise or meal prep, ignite your inner crystal ball & go finish the process below!
Numbers 1 and 2 are in the audio you missed them?
#3 Remember your Vision Board is a clarity tool, so get in front of it or bring it close as you go through this exercise, take a deeper look at it. This is Your WHY!
#4 Grab your Diary AND Journal. Check what TASKS you took on! Did you bite too much? Did you say yes to too many things when it should have been a NO? By the way it’s not a beat yourself up fest, it’s more of a Pit stop check…What needs fixing and what needs binning and of course what needs celebrating. Tick of and add to your “Praise Journal” your achievements…yes you do have some. It’s an essential part of your personal & business growth to have a Praise or book of achievements!
#5 Check what you have achieved and accomplished that you set out to do at the start of the Month/Week and year too! I did publish a blog post on how to feel accomplished in 10 steps… You would be surprised at how many people just don’t know how to celebrate their success esp. the small wins.
To ensure you continue to achieve your NEXT TARGETS and avoid burn out here are some essential points to consider during your personal audit. You miss these or fail to zone in and your journey will take a lil longer and we don’t want that for you:
- Understand WHAT you Are.
- Whats YOUR ROLE in the bigger scheme of things.
- WHERE do you ADD the most value in your: Work, Business, Family, Community…FOCUS On those areas and delegate/outsource the others or give them less priority! Unless they are essential to your success in which case…SKILL UP. Seek help! This is Zoning in, Narrowing your focus to expand your results!
- SEEK collaborations with others in similar roles or complimentary roles and support each other to grow aka Joint Venture!
Do this Weekly preferably at the end of your work week, whichever day that may be. I do this on a Saturday! Also do it every End of Month.
Benefits of a Personal Audit:
- By the end of the year you will have achieved your Goals on a wider scale and more success on its way to you.
- The more value you put out and keep Doing the Actions as opposed to focusing on the Outcomes the better your results will get!
- Also doing this weekly will help you avoid Burnout and you will be able to spot any problem areas and moments when you might’ve strayed from your vision.
- With this you will have a journal full of achievements and lots to celebrate as opposed to worrying about what didn’t happen yesterday, last week, month, year!
Super Tip: Focus on the Action steps as opposed to the huge target. Chunking it down is good in this case. If you keep Doing the Actions as opposed to focusing on the Outcomes! This is akin to having a mini internal audit process in a company lol. Well you are the brand!

Hey Kiwi,
quit procrastinating and get doing, you know you want to 🙂 & thanks for your time!

Fantastic post Julie! I totally agree that we have to stay on top of our game and know where we’re going, and if the actions that we take move us closer or not.
Love having a vision board, cuz we’re all visual creatures and we wanna actually see what we’re trying to accomplish.
Thanks for sharing this!
Hey Jelena, good to see you here 🙂
And I love your take on it. Thanks for your time and keep rocking!
Julie Syl~
A great post and such a useful too, I love the tip about narrowing your focus to expand your sucess I must admit I do not audit myself (work wise) as much as I should and will start this quarter.
Hi Anosa,
There is always a start and I am glad you got value. If we dont narrow down, zone in we go all over the show. Not great for business or personal growth!
Julie Syl~
I really enjoy taking a personal inventory. I enjoy looking at the things I would like to improve on or change. I think it is the willingness to do these things that seperates people from the heard. Thank you for this post it is WONDERFUL!
Hi Tiffany,
Love your term “taking a personal inventory” indeed in doing this you are separated from the heard. We are glad you enjoyed our post and thanks for your time.
Julie Syl~
Vision boards…. I love mine
I have a couple of them
in my phone, in my office and in my goals book.
I tend to do a personal audit once every three or four months
Thankyou
Di
Hi Di,
Thats exactly how to do it, Keep your vision board close, yet focus on THE ACTIONS 🙂
Thanks for stopping by!
Julie Syl~
I really like the idea of getting in touch with our achievements and goals quarterly, just as we take stock of our finances. I imagine it would take a lot of pressure off the beginning of the year, and allow us to think about where we’re going in a more realistic and attainable way.
Thats the idea Holly, celebrate every win and keep track of your achievements. Not only does that attract even more successes it takes the pressure off the start of every new year!
Julie Syl~
[ Smiles ] Personal audits help us to keep track of our success and helps us to get back to it if we ended up straying away from it!
Yes Renard,
That they do and then some. Thanks for your time 🙂
J&PK~
Powerful!! I love sitting down and evaluating my week or my progress, however the way you put it here makes it even more exciting and effective. thank you Much!
It is one f the fun things to do, and also planning the next week. Super productive task that each of us must do each week 🙂 Love that you agree Tara
Julie Syl~
Such a wonderful post, never had a personal audit but this is very useful to me.
well thanx Carmela. Glad you got value 🙂
J&PK~
This sounds like a really good idea. I think this is a great way to re-focus and get yourself back on track. Thanks for this!
Hi Roxy,
A personal audit is a great way to refocus and even change strategy. If you keep doing and tracking the same thing and dont get results you gotta stop and take stock! Thanks for your time!
Julie syl~
I love the idea of a personal audit. I really need to redo my vision board, and make adjustments to those things that are taking too much of my time. Thanks, have a great weekend.
Hi Angela,
Find what you are best good at Angela and focus your energies on that. Life is meant to be enjoyed as long as you have breath!
So you wnat to soend some time doing those too 🙂
Julie Syl~
Oh my goodness – I love the idea of a personal audit! Brilliant! Thank you so much for sharing … I’m on it! First up, pulling up my vision board (mine’s digital) – I haven’t looked at it for over a month …
You are most welcome NYG,
Your vision board is a clarity tool, we do share more on that in our Winning mindset category.
Use it to craft ACtion Steps and get doing…This is your year mate 🙂
Julie Syl~
I totally agree that one needs to first set goals for themselves to reach their goals, but just like in business we need to stick to them and measure so we can learn and grow.
Yes its essential to set yourself ACTION Steps and goals tailored around your Vision. Then do take the action, track and see your results quadruple!
Thanks for swinging by!
Julie syl~
Thanks for the great tips! Will keep these in mind. 🙂
You are most welcome Czjai 🙂
J&PK~
It’s nice to check and see what you’ve accomplished. Even if you have a long way to go, it’s still progress.
Exactly Rosey. Thanks for taking the time 🙂
J&PK~
Such a great post, I’m still at new for the personal audit but It really great to keep all the tracks.I’m so glad you share this with us
Hi April,
You can do a daily tracking and soon you will get to weekly and monthly. Keep an eye out and celebrate every win. Otherwise you will start to feel discouraged coz you are not taking note of your daily wins! They lead to the bigger wins!
Julie Syl~
Hi Julie,
Thanks for sharing this wonderful post. Auditing is important not only to review ourselves but also to be better in excelling our skills.
Hi Ana,
You are most welcome and Glad you agree and thanks for your time 🙂
J&PK~
Personal audits are a great way to track progress. I feel like I’m auditing myself everyday!
Well that is what we do on a mini scale Valerie. When we go over our to do list, tick of items and create tomorrow’s list! Most peole dont, thats why they arent growing fast!
Julie syl~
Great post Julie. I have never thought about doing a personal audit before but I would think that’s an awesome idea to see your progress & what needs improving. Definitely going to make some time for this. Thanks for sharing 🙂
Hi Stephanie,
Glad you found value and are going to put it to work. Let me know how it goes for ya!
Julie Syl~
Personal audits are a great way to stay on track and keep the habit going. It may seem tough to start but it looks like once the habit is started, it gets easier.
Yes Kenny,
Like everything else, starting is the easy bit…keeping on is the harder one and thats where the successful and not so much are separated.
Julie Syl~
i have never thought about doing a personal audit before but i can imagine that it would be really beneficial. I’m going to make some time to do this this month.
Hi Michelle,
Make the time, make it now and create a diary entry to do just that every week, month and year…in 2-5 yrs you will have books full of personal and career achievements. Its so good!
Julie syl~
Awesome idea, to audit yourself. It’s a great way to see your progress and what needs improvement as well. This is especially helpful when you’re maintaining a website, business, or a brand.
yes it is Elizabeth and for your life i general. In keeping stock we get to see how far we have come as well…great for self esteem!
MOst people keep beating themselves up on and on…forgetting how far they have some and how much they have already achieved!
Julie syl~
Great post — audits are critical to make sure you’re on track!
Glad you agree Jay.
J&PK~
What a fabulous idea. While I have done goal setting, vision boards, and weekly accountability, I had not thought about a quarterly audit. Great post and tips.
Awesome sauce Lori, now you do and it will enhance your results so much more 🙂
Julie Syl~
This is a great reminder to kind of take stock! I love the concept of doing a personal audit for career purposes and I really think I could benefit from sitting down and doing just that!
Dont just “Kind of” do it Jessica. REALLY DO IT and you will get the results you want.
Lean all the way in…and you will find the Gold. This is your year of YES to YOU!
Its not about self flagellation, its about taking stick and pulling together your best side and perform in that. Thats what highly successful people do.
Julie Syl~
Awesome informative post.If i ever do an audit i will use this post as a reference!
Glad you found your anchor post for a personal audit Morgan! Thanks for your time 🙂
J&PK~
I hadn’t heard the term “personal audit” til today but the activity is familiar to me. It’s always a good idea to review your life while you are in the process of living it.
We must always take stock of our lives. Whats the point of setting goals, resolutions , tasks if we arent going to track our results or efforts? 🙂 Cheers for swinging by 🙂
J&PK~
I sometimes don’t take time out for myself and these practices will really help keep me grounded and find myself when I’m a bit too hectic. Thanks for sharing.
Hey Kay,
Its essential that you take time out for you and your targets. It helps centre your thoughts and plans 🙂
Julie Syl~
Can I tell ya, I typically bite off more than I can chew. But somehow God brings it all back around for me. Great post
Your Vision must be a HUUUGE bite, your daily actions must be achievable 🙂 thats all the difference. We are exactly the same. We create HUGE targets and then get to work 🙂 “Aim for the Moon at least you fall among the stars” ~ Les Brown is awesome 🙂
Julie Syl~
A personal audit is a great idea. That will keep me on track, and make sure I am on track
Yes it is And we are glad you got value!
J&PK~
This is such a great idea! I like to go over my goals every month, and you listed some awesome new ways to review them! Thanks!
Glad you found value Cole! Keep doing
J&PK~
I agree! You have to keep stock of what you are doing with your life or you will never be able to change. I need to do this more often and I like how you had it set up!
We are glad you agree Alison. Thanks for your time and yes do it more often 🙂
J&PK~
I recently did this for my blog and found that I had a lot of things out of whack. It took some time but now I have it all cleaned up again.
And we are sure glad you did Jennifer. Lots of people simply drift along and forget the basic lessons of school. Test yourself and check yourself every month. In our school it was weekly too 🙂
Julie Syl~
This is something that I do at least four times a year and have been promoting on my blog and within my mailing list with tools.! Great post Julie! 🙂
Wow Claudette I love that you share tools with your list as well. We share more tools with our Team.
They either want it or they dont and how do you know who needs it on your list?
Julie Syl~
Great post! I have never done a personal audit but I can see how it would be useful in helping achieve your goals! I may give it a try! Thanks!
You truly should give it a try Toni. You will see better results and have a lot more to celebrate every month!
