Affiliate Links on Pinterest are Back in Plus More Pinterest Updates that Affect Your Business!
Well did you know that Affiliate Links on Pinterest were a no-no? Well Not anymore…some welcome news for affiliate marketers, network marketers and home business entrepreneurs alike, right! And…
I’ve often been asked the question “Does Pinterest have limits to the number of Pins you can share or people you can follow? If so, how can you delete old unwanted content?”
In today’s post I am not only going to answer these two questions, I am also going to share with you some exciting Pinterest Updates esp. about affiliate links on Pinterest! This is so apt as it comes at a time that affiliate marketers and business owners are finding it real hard to get much traction on Facebook, most internet marketers’ social media platform of choice! So its truly now important to grow one’s audience on Pinterest and we have been keeping you served via our Pinterest Cafe with Julie Syl every Monday and this week we shall not disappoint!
First this is too hot to wait…
Affiliate Links on Pinterest are Back in:
As per the May 11th 2016 Pinterest update Affiliate links are now allowed BACK on Pinterest . Yup you can now add your affiliate links on Pinterest. Via a relevant Image ,under Link or even description. I suggest that: instead of posting an affiliate link direct, use a Capture page so you don’t send your leads directly to your affiliate company. Or better still as
This is no way is cart blanche to spam, because they have some super strong spam filters and will block your account… According to Cai:
“the re-enabling of affiliate links will help grow local markets, allowing users in the region to create content that’s relevant to the people there. We want to get local influencers to stretch their content out on the platform…”
And that’s some good news for Network, Affiliate Marketers alike, its already thought that Amazon & Etsy vendors are going to have a sales-fest again via Pinterest!
Amazon have accordingly updated their terms and insist that you must disclose affiliate content wherever you use it. This helps keep up with the recent Pinterest updates too!
So you can now re-engage in this increasingly popular platform by adding your affiliate links on pinterest. You can indeed sell more on Amazon and eBay or whatever it is you promote! One thing I’ve learn about Pinterest is they will always add affiliate links back however much they don’t like them. They say the have a solution to Spammers, learn what it is in the video below.

Pinterest has a lifetime Pin limit. Did you know this?
[bctt tweet=”Your #Pinterest Real estate is not “Freehold” #pinterestmarketing #yourpowerechoes” username=”Juleskalpauli”]
Here is something you definitely didn’t know. Unlike Twitter and Facebook, Your Pinterest Real estate is not “Freehold” as in unlimited posts. It’s limited; that’s why I recommend that you delete any old non- performing or uninteresting pins. Esp. if you pinned the post several times and you thus have another pin that’s performing of the same post. I would check out all my boards, see which boards are performing well and move the content of less popular boards to those that seem popular and turn the others “Secret.” All this is to help you avoid hitting the limit — Each account is only allowed 200,000 pins.
You also have a maximum number of boards you can have and Followers! But these last 2 shouldn’t worry you much! If you do the maths you will know how long your account might last at your current pinning rate! So these days I schedule a max 10 pins per day! Gives me a good 20,000 days and considering I cleanse our boards every quarter, that day won’t be coming soon, unless new Pinterest updates change that!
Now before I go further, folks I can’t emphasize enough how TailWind has helped our Pinterest growth following the Algorithm Changes and the plethora of Pinterest Updates that they keep throwing out. So if you’re interested in TailWind be sure to check them out and tell them I sent you!
Now dive into This Week’s Pinterest Café and be sure to apply the lessons and tips to maximize your results from Pinterest Marketing. You can add Affiliate links now so that’s super exciting. If you aren’t engaging with other Pinners, your links wont be seeing eyeballs anytime soon mate. So its all about engagement like any other relationship isn’t it! 🙂

NEW PINTEREST MIND-BLOWING TECH UPDATES
Note: If you have custom-made pin it buttons for your blog that don’t follow the Pinterest API, they have been pulled. In other words they don’t work anymore. Remember the Twitter counts? Same thing here only Pinterest hasn’t pulled them completely. Those tools/buttons or apps that use Pinterest’s API still do work. BUT if you blog via blogger you are out of luck for now. My advice, is install Pinterest buttons.
Well that’s it for this Week’s Pinterest Café on “Affiliate Links on Pinterest and The Pinterest Updates.” Next time I’ll write about more Updates, Solutions to problems you might be having on Pinterest and how to resolve them so stay tuned. If you need step by step instructions on how to implement this and other ideas I give on Pinterest Marketing. Please go to my Ultimate Pinterest Road-map and download my in-the-trenches hacks.

I read in several places that Amazon Terms of Service currently do not allow Pinterest links, but I can’t find where it says either way. Are you sure sharing Amazon links on Pinterest is okay and if so, can you point me to the Terms of Service where it says so?
Hi JP,
Last year Pinterest let up on its policy on use of Amazon Links. Esp if you give a proper description of the benefit of yourh product to your target market. arount the time of publishing this post is when they allowed Amazon lnks back in. I would have to go back thru Pinterest Blog to find that if i were you. They still block some people who overdo things aka spam.
Amazing! Another opportunity for affiliate marketers on social media.
Exactly David and yet sadly very few bother to learn how to Leverage Pinterest, The tighter Facebook Squeezes Marketers, the more they wait for it to turn things back to the good ole days…a long wait that will be for them! 🙂

awesome training for pinterest julie
Thank you Sheena 🙂
~Julie S
Thank you for this training. Lots of information and tips. I read a few weeks ago that we shouldn’t organize our boards Alphabetically yet Pinterest seems to be doing that natively.
I have a question:
What is the difference between ‘saving’ a Pin and ‘liking’ a Pin? I see this in my notifications and don’t recall seeing the ‘saving’ option before.
Hi Sara,
Pinterest is now arranging your boards Alphabetically. SO its automatic But when you visit your profile you will find that you can still move them about to your preference on PC although not on Mobile.
The “Save” Button replaced the “Pin it” Button inside of Pinterest although its still “Pin it” on external APIs I think they should have left it as “Pin in” Although we save it when we pin it, lol that’s what its about! Hope that answers your question!
~Julie S
I would have never thought to add affiliate links to my pins. Go to know it can b edone now.
Hi Michelle,
It was not allowed until last week and thats what is so exciting. SO I reckon we are free to share our biz opps and offers, with integrity on Pinterest!

Its time Affiliates made use of this window, the spammers will do what they do and it may close again. When you search for affiliate marketing on Pinterest you get mostly Amazon sellers. Lets show them how to do things with integrity!
~Julie S
