First you want to decide what is the purpose of your Presence on Facebook. And how you will use your personal Facebook profile account?

Don’t worry, we all start with the view to connect with friends, family, long lost sorority sisters or brothers. Wanted to find those awesome positive upbeat people, maybe fellow dog lovers…

Maybe you like to think you are a unicorn and wish to find others of similar ilk…Whatever your aim. You can start today to bring it to life on FB irrespective of how you started in that platform.

Is it solely for close family and friends? Then be sure to set your settings to “Only friends” on every setting!

BUT if your plan has changed to using your Facebook profile to market, and grow your brand and business, here are some things you might like to consider.

Now you definitely want to take a looksee at our article on the Facebook Algorithm and what it means for your business…You will be surprised at some of the things you do that drop your edge rank like a ton of bricks in the ocean. Go do so now, we’ll wait…Cool, now before we do this….

In every article on Juleskalpauli, we like to gift and empower you with a POWERFUL FREE resource that you can take, implement immediately away and create desired results in your business.

This week, we’re talking about how to manage your Facebook profile and friend requests… So, we put a great resource together for you to help you create Community on Facebook for you and your business.

It’s called the “Social Media Ice Breakers.”

This guide will help you know How to connect, Communicate, Collaborate and cross boundaries with the people on your friends list and followers into raving fans and buyers of your offers.

I love these Social Media Ice Breakers simply because

  • I have personally used them to build a focused fan and follower base on Facebook.
  • They have also helped us attract team mates and coaching clients to our business.

Therefore if you haven’t yet started to leverage Facebook properly for you business then you will need to get started doing so today!

Social media Ice Breakers

My 7 Step Dos and Don’ts to Build Up my Facebook Profile and Follower base Daily.

#1. Honestly, DON’T accept every friend request.

Same way you wouldn’t make friends with every stranger you meet on the street. Nor do you give out your phone number, address and key to every person you meet. Some people do truly water down your brand.

In fact, as a friend once said:

“Some people don’t send friend requests, they are Surveillance cameras, ready to poop on your parade.”

[socialpug_tweet tweet=”DON’T Add random people just because they are “friends of your friends #FacebookProfilemanagement #facebooksuccess” display_tweet=”DON’T Add random people just because they are “friends of your friends”]

#2. DON’T Add random people just because they are “friends of your friends  without finding out if they are the kind of person you would be happy to have a cuppa or party with!

You could end up adding a hacker or evil-carnival monster! Or worse, you could have your Facebook account shut down….

By the way if your brand/website link is blocked for some crazy wrong reason you can take some Ninja steps we shared here…Yes sometimes people report you due to jealousy and FB shuts you down first and doesn’t ask any Questions later…So you need to have the above resource on your bookmark list just in case.

[socialpug_tweet tweet=”DO Check out the content on that potential friend’s profile. #facebookmanagement #howtomanagefacebook” display_tweet=”DO Check out the content on that potential friend’s profile.”]

#3. DO Check out the content on that potential friend’s profile.

Does it have content that you like, inspires you, makes you laugh in a good way? Or are they weirdos?

Does the person share any similar interests? Do they seem to be industrious?

Do they have a profile picture that says “Human?”

If NO, move on…Seriously. Lots more on Facebook, all of 2 billion+ per month!

Don’t add “eggheads” thats a red flag for bots!

#4. Having mutual friends SHOULDN’T BE your Only deciding factor.

It’s only a bonus. Learn about the person for yourself, go stalk em for all of a minute…You will see if they are truly your Shot of Vodka. ?

Here is my take, if our mutual friends are just as random and “strange to me”, if I have never really interacted with them either, then I may also not be that engaged with you. So I have to find a deeper reason to add you or accept your friend request!

#5. Engage with the person’s posts/content and see if they engage back. After all social media is a TWO-WAY STREET…Engagement is the name of the game.

You totally don’t need more spectators on your friends list who have no interest in engaging and connecting with you.

In my language we call them “Kamoolists” ?

These people absolutely kill your edge rank…aka Your FB posts reach. Every time you post and don’t get your so called “Friends” engage, your influence on FB drops…Think about this the next time you feel tempted to add a random stranger, who only visits their FB to post “fake news!” ☹

[socialpug_tweet tweet=”Every time you post and don’t get your so called “Friends” engage, your influence on FB drops. #facebookmarketingtips ” display_tweet=”Every time you post and don’t get your so called “Friends” engage, your influence on FB drops.”]

#6. Move the conversation to Messenger.

If you say hello to someone and they do not respond! That’s Not a  problem, release them! After all, you don’t need to be Facebook friends to connect in Messenger. If someone is interested in relationship building and connection, they will communicate.

So be sure to always visit your “Other Folder”we always do and clear our unnecessary messages, bots and stalkers. And you may have a super star waiting to connect with you! (See image below)

Our Top 7 Step Dos and Don’ts to Manage Your Facebook Profile

#7. Don’t Be a Sale-zilla – i.e. send a friend request and once added as a friend immediately pitch your product or opportunity.

This screams amateur. ? This will lose you respect, get you unfriended, blocked, and likely reported to Facebook as a spammer! Yes, some people are that sensitive to sales pitches…

Quite Frankly it is that type of behaviour that devalues the Online Marketer and Your Profession. It also makes it much harder for the rest of the professionals trying to build their business with integrity and come from a place of service!

[socialpug_tweet tweet=”Understand why someone wants to connect with you too. #FacebookMarketingTips” display_tweet=”Understand why someone wants to connect with you too.”]

QUALIFY Your Potential Friends:

Understand why someone wants to connect with you too. Some are simply inspired by you, thats all. Others just want to look popular so they are building their numbers up. Others are marketers and entrepreneurs  The fact that they are business owners, Reps or Distributors for an MLM or company X shouldn’t be an issue really. That’s being myopic.

What you want to determine is if they are solely connecting to recruit you…

So, Qualify them first. They could be a marketer yet really want to connect with you.

We don’t know until we have a conversation, in messenger

People usually reveal their true intentions in messenger…

And remember TRUST IS EARNED!

What happens after they accept your Friendship or Add you?

This is what I teach inside of the Winning entrepreneurs’ den daily!

Winning Entrepreneurs Den Nation A community of Business owners, and marketers

The fun part happens in Messenger….

See, you want to set time to network in Messenger. And we will look at this next week in more detail. In brief thought, I set aside time to NETWORK, and I set my timer for 60 minutes segments.

During that time, I start conversations, reply to people, following up on earlier conversations regarding whatever.

We have different techniques for different people. Because One size doesn’t fit all, not in Marketing.

So, you can choose to be part of a powerful Private Mastermind Community and see faster growth in your business. OR…

Try out, DIY different things and see what works best for you.

I may accept a friend request and due to my schedule, cannot message them until much later in the day or even days later…If this is the case, I try not to accept any one until I can do the messaging immediately. That way FB doesn’t think I am adding random strangers!

I appreciate that we are all busy humans and so someone may not answer immediately either. But if 48 hours elapse…well If I sent the friend request, I cancel it. Esp. if they are active on their profile.

“You want to Go where you are Celebrated, not tolerated!”

So, work the time in and go Network. Build your facebook profile and follower base with one stone. #Boom

SPANNER IN THE WORKS

Ookay time for the shock factor. If Facebook nolonger tickles your fancy, do you find it intrusive and double standards galore?

You want to connect with other professionals without worrying if you will be called a spammer.

If you want your content to reach more people without being gagged?

You want to be part of a New Trend on the leading edge of a New Social wave and If you are fast enough and you are among the First 1 Million members…guess what? You will earn revenue every time someone logs in to this platform.  You want to Check out Webtalk.

MANAGE YOUR FACEBOOK PROFILE – It’s a Wrap

I urge you to Be a part of the solution, not the problem.

You are on FB as a Professional looking to build community and Influence and serve that community as the best version of you!

For that to happen, you should essentially be Building your network with quality people. This takes conversation and engagement my friend, not random adding. ?

Understand that I am not saying you become closed to meeting new people online. Rather Be OPEN to building Incredible relationships, it is Possible.

So, let me ask you, in your bid to manage your facebook profile and follower base, what will you work on this week?

These are great insights! I have 3,000 friends on Facebook right now, and I think those are enough. I can’t imagine people having 5,000 friends on Facebook. Haha! If fans are trying to add me, I just tell them to like and message my Facebook Page instead.
Also, I changed my setting. Only people with mutual friends can send me a friend request. It’s really helpful. Now, I end up having 15,000 fans on my own Facebook Profile because I don’t add random people.

This is such great advice. So many people on social media go for quantity over quality. So many people just try to add EVERYONE. Some people do and next thing you know they have tons of spam and sales like pitches cluttering their inboxes. At worst, some of the people have unfavorable characteristics, maybe sharing content you don’t agree with and that can reflect poorly on you. You should only add those you want to add! Quality over quantity!

I know we all want privacy, yet as bloggers we also want more eyeballs on our content. So we have to choose between maximum privacy and brand exposure…and when those bills show up, they dont mind whether no one can see your content or not. They just want being paid!
